Hardwood in Pearl, MS

Why hardwood is more than an installation

It’s also more than just a beautiful floor covering. Yes, this product adds a lot of richness, warmth, and elegance to your home, whether it’s in Jackson, Pearl or any other locale. But you should also know that, whether you plan to stay or sell, a hardwood floor installation is going to raise your property values.

It does that a couple of ways. First, whether you decide on the solid or engineered version, you will get back 70 to 80 percent of the price you paid; some sources go as high as 90 percent! So, a house originally assessed at $200,000 could now be worth $216,000.

Secondly: If you are planning to sell, potential buyers will often pay up to 2.5 percent over asking for a hardwood floor.

It’s also considered an investment because it lasts for years and even looks better sometimes with age.

Is engineered hardwood real wood and will it bring value?

Yes, indeed. We know how style-conscious places like Jackson can be. The only difference here is the construction. It has the same style, richness, and variety of species.

Solid is, as it sounds, a slab of wood all through the plank. Engineered hardwood consists of a slab of wood at the top, then layered with both real wood and some other materials. The layers are each positioned differently, and the result is an installation that’s more stable and better able to handle moisture, water, and weather conditions.

As you probably already know, solid hardwood can warp with excess water, has limitations as to where it can be installed and tends to expand or contract to adjust to the weather. Engineered eliminates many of those concerns, but still use the same every day rules you would for solid hardwood, such as wiping spills immediately and placing mats at entrances and in front of sinks so they, not the wood, absorb splashes and wet shoe soles.

After all, you want to protect any floor installation because, like anything else, the better you care for it, the longer it will last.
