Look at the AC Rating

Laminate carries an AC (Abrasion Class) rating from AC1 to AC5. For a busy home, choose AC3 or higher; AC4–AC5 handle very heavy or light-commercial traffic. It’s the single best durability spec to check.

Thickness & Underlayment

Thicker planks (8–12mm) feel more solid underfoot and quieter, especially with a quality underlayment that also smooths minor subfloor imperfections. Attached underlayment saves a step.

Texture & Finish

Textured, embossed surfaces hide scuffs and footprints better than glossy ones — great for kids and pets. A tough wear layer resists scratches from claws and furniture.

Brands & Where to Use It

We carry realistic, durable lines like Mohawk RevWood. Laminate excels in living rooms, hallways, bedrooms and offices. For wet rooms, pair it with LVP. See the laminate page.
