What to Do After a Storm Damages Your Roof

Do These in Order

1. Stay safe. Don’t climb the roof — look from the ground and inside the attic for daylight or leaks.
2. Call a roofer first. Before your insurance company, get a free, documented inspection so your claim reflects the real damage.
3. Document everything. Photograph visible damage, fallen limbs and any interior leaks.
4. Then file your claim with that documentation in hand.
5. Get emergency tarping if there’s active leaking, to prevent more damage.
